Privacy Policy

SurveyStack (“we,” “us”) provides a research automation platform for land surveying professionals at surveystack.app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built SurveyStack for professional firms, and we keep our data practices simple: we collect what we need to run the service, we do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers on our site.

Information you provide

• Account information. Your name, email address, and firm details, managed through our sign-in provider, Clerk.
• Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers; we retain only billing status and invoice history.
• Job inputs. Parcel identifiers, property addresses, and any documents you upload, such as title reports and recorded conveyance documents.
• CRM data. If your plan includes CRM features, we store the customer and project records you enter or connect. We access connected external CRMs on a read-only basis.

Information we generate or collect automatically

• Research outputs. Course tables, staking plots, CAD files, and reports generated for your jobs.
• Public records. We retrieve documents from government sources, such as county recorders, state archives, and GIS services. These are public records and may contain names of property owners who are not our users; we retrieve them as published and do not alter them.
• Service logs. Standard technical logs (such as IP address and request timestamps) used for security and troubleshooting.
• Cookies. We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics.

How we use information

We use your information solely to operate the service: running research jobs, generating deliverables, storing your files, providing support, and billing. We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use your data to train AI models.

AI processing

Documents in your jobs are analyzed by Anthropic’s Claude models through their commercial API to extract boundary information. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models. We send only the documents needed for the job at hand.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of infrastructure providers to run SurveyStack. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function:

• Clerk — authentication and account management
• Stripe — payment processing and invoicing
• Anthropic — AI document analysis
• Amazon Web Services and Cloudflare — file storage and encrypted backups
• Vercel and Fly.io — application hosting

Your customers’ data

For plans that include CRM features, the customer records you store or connect belong to you. We act only as a custodian of that data: we process it to provide the service to you, we never sell it, never use it for any other client or purpose, and never write back to your connected systems.

Retention and deletion

We retain your account data and job files while your account is active so your research archive stays available to you. If you close your account or ask us to delete specific data, we will remove it from our active systems, with residual copies aging out of encrypted backups on a rolling basis.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, stored in access-controlled systems, and backed up in encrypted form. Access to customer data is limited to what is necessary to operate and support the service.

Your rights and choices

You can access and export your job files and documents from your portal at any time. To request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal information, contact us and we will respond promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of the service after a change means the updated policy applies.
